European Goldrush

It’s taken us this long to recover from a phenomenal weekend of sporting success.

Some highlights from Belgium & Romania where Great Britain topped both medal tables as clients competed in the European Cross Country Championships & European Short Course Swimming Championships:

In Belgium, Great Britain won medals throughout the day. Client highlight was without doubt Will Barnicoat winning gold in the men’s U23 race with a tactical masterclass. Biding his time, Will unleashed a superb kick down the final stretch & hold off the strong French challenge. Right in the mix until the final climb was Matt Stonier, showing excellent stamina as a 1500m runner on a grueling, muddy course to win bronze.

At the same time, British swimmers were excelling & topped the medal table for the first time at this event. Abbie Wood showed an excellent return to form, swimming superbly to win gold in both the 200m & 400m Individual Medley races. Long time client & a man with his own significant haul of swimming medals, James Gibson had an excellent meet as coach that included a European record for Ben Proud winning gold in the 50m Freestyle, a time just 0.02 seconds shy of the world record.
