SportsAid Award for Loughborough based GB Thrower

We are delighted to announce that we have provided our first Athlete Award through SportsAid.

Bekah Walton is one of Great Britain’s best track & field athletes, topping the UK javelin rankings at under-23 & senior level in 2019!

SportsAid is a charity that helps Great Britain’s most talented young sportspeople to become the next generation of sporting heroes with Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill DBE among those to have benefitted from SportsAid’s support. We are proud to be working with SportsAid & look forward to supporting many promising young sportspeople over the coming years.

Bekah said “I feel honoured to be recognised for my sporting achievements by SportsAid.  By funding the costs of performance sport, which includes memberships, physio treatment and international travel, I am able to maximise my potential on the track for the 2021 season.”

Bekah’s coach & the Head Throws Coach at Loughborough University, David Turner said “We’re hugely grateful for the support from SportsAid that will help Bekah on her journey towards Birmingham 2022.  Javelin throwing is a late peaking sport, which means support and retention during the transition from age group to senior international athlete is absolutely essential to the long-term success of individuals and indeed the nation’s medal tally.”

Our ethos at Loughborough Finance for Sport is to be part of the ‘team’, & for our sports professionals that means integrating into their wider support team that includes their coaches, therapists, sponsors etc, helping ensure they have the optimal setup to achieve their sporting potential.

We understand the unique challenges for our sporting stars of the future & hope that this Award, together with our further support, helps Bekah achieve her goals that include the European Under-23 Championship in 2021 & an excellent opportunity to win a medal at a home Commonwealth Games in 2022.

Good luck Bekah!
